Algeria ranks among Africa‘s Top 4 importers of plastics, packaging and printing technology
plast & printpack alger closed on a very positive note on 08 April 2014. Summarized the Minister of Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Mr. Amara Benyounes during its closing ceremony:
"These shows are extremely important for Algerian companies because they allow the exchange on technology and management topics and they can lead to a great number of valuable partnerships. The future of the Algerian industry is based on partnerships with leading foreign companies. And don't forget: Algeria is the largest market in North Africa and we are the most stable country in the region."
Record in all parameters: exhibitors, visitors & quality:
- number of trade visitors up 29% to 3,083 in 2014, compared to 2,388 visitors in 2012
- high decision makers rate among visitors: 70%
- number of exhibitors up 54% to 161 technology leaders from 24 countries from 24 countries in 2014, compared with 104 exhibitors in 2012
plast & printpack alger are organised by the German trade fair specialists fairtrade and its German-Algerian team.
According to figures of VDMA-the German Engineering Association, Algeria ranks among Africa‘s Top 4 importers of plastics, packaging and printing technology (in line with South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria).
So it came as no surprise that the 3rd plast alger and the 4th printpack alger in 2014 were as big and as international as ever before. The record participation testifies to the considerable value the international business community meanwhile attaches to Algeria.
The exhibitors came from Algeria, Austria, Belgium, China, Cyprus, Egypt, Germany, Greece, France, India, Iran, Italy, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tunisia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
The countries with the most exhibitors include Italy with 26 exhibitors, Algeria 23, China 18, France 18, Austria 11, Spain 10, Taiwan 9, Germany 8, India 6, Tunisia and Turkey 5, and Portugal and Switzerland with 3 exhibitors.
The country with the largest participation is Italy with 26 exhibitors. The visit of the Italian Ambassador Michele Giacomelli and of Guiseppe Agostinacchio, the Director of ICE - the Italian Trade Promotion Agency in Algeria underlines the strong presence of one of Algeria’s closest European neighbors.
Mr Michele Giacomelli, Ambassador of Italy: “With more than 6 billion US Dollars Italy is Algeria‘s 3rd most important supplier. Main export items are mechanical engineering products and consumer goods. The excellent historical relations between our two countries are confirmed by the extremely strong presence of 26 exhibitors at plast & printpack alger 2014. This exhibition has become ever more import for a regular exchange between Italian companies and their Algerian partners.”
