iran agrofood 2019: What a show!

Despite difficult business environment in Iran: 865 exhibitors from 21 countries presented the entire value chain towards far more than 40,000 trade visitors at iran agrofood 2019

(Heidelberg / Tehran) This year the exhibitors came to Tehran with rather low expectations for iran agrofood. All the more pleasing was the enormous influx of well over 40,000 visitors and their great business interest. The 865 exhibitors from 21 countries who took part from 18 to 21 June can congratulate themselves on their decision. Because it is always important to keep in touch, especially in difficult times. And iran agrofood makes this decision especially easy, because: Exhibitors, visitors andorganisers agree in their assessment: iran agrofood 2019 proved an excellent show once again!

GEYER: “We are positively surprised that iran agrofood is taking place this year despite the political and financial situation. Interesting to see that the market continues to grow. We are meeting both existing and new customers who want to innovate and initiate new business. What makes the show so unique? It is a very well established platform from which we have benefited again and again in recent years. Because here we can exchange ideas comprehensively with our international and Iranian partners within a few days.” 

Despite the currently difficult business environment in Iran, as many as 865 exhibitors from 21 countries presented their products, solutions and technologies "from field to fork" at iran agrofood 2019 towards more than 40,000 trade visitors from all over Iran and neighbouringcountries. 

The 26th edition of iran agrofood kicked-off on 18 June in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture-Jahad, the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine & Trade, the Ambassadors of Brazil, India and the Netherlands and many other dignitaries.

iran agrofood consists of the five partial events iran agro, iran food + bev tec, iran bakery + confectionery, iran food ingredients and iran food + hospitality and has been organized by the German trade show specialists fairtrade in cooperation with their Iranian partners Palar Samaneh since 1994. The 26th edition took place on 18 to 21 June 2019 at the Teheran International Fairground.    

Exhibitors came from Austria, Brazil, China, Denmark, Georgia, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Mongolia, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. 

NEW: Start-up pavilion at iran agrofood 2019

For the first time this year some twenty Iranian start-up companies presented their innovations at the iran agrofood Start-up Pavilion in hall 31a.STARS at iran agrofood 2019! 

Seven official national pavilions 

Brazil, China, Germany, India, Italy, Russia and Turkey were present at iran agrofood 2019 with official national pavilions. The Netherlands and Switzerland were represented through stands of their embassies.

Following the successful participations in 2017 and 2018, Brazil was again present this year with an official pavilion at iran food + hospitality, organized by the Brazilian Embassy in Tehran. 10 Brazilian companies presented the finest meat, coffee and food from Brazil. Said Ana Maria Sena R. Pasiani, Second Secretary, Head of Trade Promotion Section and Filipe Abbott Galvão Sobreira Lopes, First Secretary – Embassy of Brazil: “Despite the sanctions, Iran is a really big market with more than 80 million people. The customers are interested in new products and receptive about Brazilian companies. The number of exhibitors and visitors is very good and the visitors do not only come from Iran, but from the entire region.”

China participated with 19 exhibitors at iran food ingredients, iran food + hospitality and iran food + bev tec.  

The official German Pavilion was presented by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and supported by VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery. Altogether 15 German companies took part in iran food + bev tec & iran food ingredients. Outlines Vera Fritsche of the German Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association VDMA: “Germany is the most important trading partner of the Iranian food and beverage industry for the supply of modern food processing and packaging machinery. The German manufacturers maintain long-standing and partnership-based cooperation with their Iranian business partners.
iran food + bev tec brings people together and is therefore an important platform for the German companies to keep and expand contacts.”

Not less than 24 Indian exhibitors displayed their products at iran food ingredients & iran food + hospitality, supported by the India Trade Promotion Organisation ITPO, the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India ASSOCHAM, and the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India CEPCI. 

For many years Italy has been one of the most important exhibitor nations at iran food + bev tec. While the Italian participation in recent years has been organized solely privately, the 2019 Italian participation featuring 22 Italian exhibitors has for the first time been complemented by an official Italian pavilion with the support of the Italian Trade Agency ITA. Augusto Di Giacinto, Director of the Italian Trade Agency ITA in Tehran says: "Iranians prefer European technologies and Iran wants to expand and improve its own production, not least in order to export more and more. The knowledge of Iranian potential customers is very high. They are willing to invest and modernize their factories.  In difficult times, there are always new opportunities to exploit and the food industry is one of the most important sectors. About iran food + bev tec 2019: "All major Iranian and international players are represented at this important trade fair".

The Russian Federation presented itself for the first time at iran agro 2019 with two official pavilions. One from the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia's most populous republic. And another from the Kabardino-Balkar Republic in the North Caucasus. Both pavilions were officially supported by the Russian Export Center. A total of 9 Russian exhibitors presented technologies for agriculture, milk production and water treatment.

As in previous years, Turkey was again officially represented this year at iran food + bev tec & iran food + hospitality. The Turkish pavilion with 11 exhibitors was supported by the Turkish Ministry of Trade.

At iran agro 2019, 51 exhibitors from 6 countries presented adapted technologies and solutions for the Iranian market in the fields of crop production, agricultural technology and animal husbandry.

331 exhibitors from 12 countries took part in iran food + bev tec & iran bakery + confectionery, a who-is-who of the international elite of food, bakery + confectionery, beverage and packaging technology.
